Membership

Everyone is very welcome at our concerts. You can just buy a ticket and come and listen to some great music. But we are a small charity, run entirely by volunteers and funded by ticket sales and generous donations. The wonderful musicians who play for us are professionals and they are paid the proper rates (sometimes generously supported by musical trusts). We also have to meet all the other costs of putting on concerts such the hire of the venue, publicity, insurance and so on. 

Because of the Covid pandemic, we have not put on a concert since February 2020 and the generous support of our members has enabled us to meet ongoing costs without drawing on our reserves. We have been sending out a monthly newsletter highlighting musical events being live-streamed or musical archives that may be of interest. Some of these feature well-known orchestras, ensembles and venues. Others may be less-easily found, perhaps featuring artists who have played for us, or whom we had to cancel last year. We plan to continue to send this out to members so long as live music is disrupted by the pandemic.

When we are able to resume concerts and possibly even opera and concert trips, members will be the first to hear about them.
